1978 Pearson 424

Vero Beach, Florida

$29,900

This Ketch an aft cockpit, aft stateroom cruiser, well-appointed and roomy even for a boat this large. The hull was laid up in the conventional manner of the day, which was hand laid. The thickness of the hull is what stands out about this vessel. Conservatively, it can be called a true battle wagon capable of long range blue water sailing

The hull was laid up in the conventional manner of the day, which was hand laid. The thickness of the hull is what stands out about this vessel. Conservatively, it can be called beefy.

Decking is end - cut balsa core fiberglass. Make no mistake this boat is well built but the balsa core allows for the ketch to shed a little weight while still maintaining extraordinary strength.

From any angle this vessel is pretty. The aesthetics of the 424 are still used on new boats today because they are classic. There is considerable room to move around on the decks plus there is center access to the salon.

The cockpit is a sailor's dream. Here too, there is plenty of room to move and it is built with high coaming to keep you dry. There is considerable storage over 65 compartments and places to easily reach the things you need. The GPS is on a arm that swings so when you’re at the navigation station in the cabin you can easily reach it and then it swings into the door way allowing it to be easily seen at the helm and the boat has an auto pilot which can be adjusted 1 degree at time or 10 degrees at a time

Entering the boat from the cockpit puts you in the aft stateroom. Having the entrance to the salon amidships keeps privacy at the fingertips of the owner or temporary resident. Visitors can enjoy the comforts of the salon without disturbing the owner or captain. It also provides quick access to the navigation table and instruments.

This boat has 2 complete set of sails
